McKinney apologizes (TCI gets results??)

Reuters is reporting that Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) has apologized for the incident that took place between her and a Capitol policeman last week. According to the leftist news service, McKinney apologized in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, saying "I am sorry that misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation and I apologize."

In a related story somehow overlooked by Reuters, sources tell me that hell has been given the go ahead to freeze over.

McKinney had claimed that the officer touched her "inappropriately" and her lawyers had accused him of racial profiling.

McKinney's not out of the woods yet, as the US Attorney's office is still weighing whether or not to bring charges against her for her alleged striking of the CapCop with her cellphone. Sources have told CNN that earlier today a grand jury began hearing testimony about the altercation.

There is no word on whether The Cranky Insomniac's nomination of McKinney for the Captain Renault Award played a role in her decision to apologize.
